The purpose of the study is to develop a measure on the city branding of Kuala Terengganu as Coastal Heritage City using an Aaker’s brand personality scale. Specifically, the study proposes the antecedents of a city brand personality in promoting Kuala Terengganu City through it’s a strategic communication campaign. In order to administer this study, the qualitative and quantitative research methods were employed. In the first phase, semi-structured interviews and pre-test study were conducted to identify and verify the antecedents of city branding. In the second phase, survey questionnaires were applied using the Aaker’s brand personality scale. Finally, in the third phase, structured interviews were conducted to complement the results of the main studies. Five dimensions proposes with a total of nineteen (19) items from the City Personality Scale (CPS) that can be applied to the communication perspective in Malaysia. The five dimensions were refined using a confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model. The factors were named as factor 1 (Peacefulness), factor 2 (Competence), factor 3 (Sophistication), factor 4 (Uniqueness) and factor 5 (Traditionalism). It seems the scale of 24 items brand personality to work better in the city branding among internal stakeholders (opinion leaders, communication managers, executives and non-executive officers). The results show that the revised brand personality is dire needed tailoring with Asian values. In fact, we found a cultural component is a strong predictor of City Brand Personality. The substantial contribution of this study is the City Brand Personality has successfully been developed in a Malaysian east coast context. Thus, this study may enrich current literatures on branding generally and city branding specifically in an Asian context
This study on communicative effects of health visual messages on cigarettes packaging towards smokers is aimed at identifying the functions of visual communication of health message towards smokers on the danger of smoking. The new and aggressive strategy of displaying chronic diseases images on cigarettes packaging is chosen as the fundamental of this study as the researcher’s intent to discover the effectiveness of the messages through visual communication in the form of health message. A qualitative approach with focused group interviews consisted of 10 informants from different demographic factors were done. Finding analysis is matched with the paradigm framework of active message processing written by Pfau and Parrot (1993) in the book entitled Persuasive Communication Campaigns which stated the stages of message processing by public and it is a useful model in research on the effectiveness of health messages. This study found that the messages have affected the informants’ emotions in terms of creating fear but it does not work on giving permanent awareness thus they choose to reject the messages delivered on cigarettes packaging. As a conclusion, the displaying of visual messages has given a shortterm effect but eventually it becomes a norm and not getting bothered by the message receivers. However, there are also consequences of directly displaying the visual messages to the receivers since it is an act of informing that affects emotions.
Media exposure on HIV/AIDS among adolescents in the sub-Saharan Africa has been reported as low in the early 2000s but now given growth in infrastructure and development in technology and program appeal, there emerges a need for reassessment. Given that communication particularly through the media is considered as a major preventive strategy to addressing the spread of the epidemic, this study investigates the media exposure, knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of adolescent Islamiyya girls in Northeast Nigeria on HIV/AIDS as a predominantly Muslim society against the background of earlier studies which have shown that Muslim communities which were hitherto considered protected are now witnessing a rapid evidence of an advancing HIV/AIDS epidemic. And because of peculiar cultural and social practices women and girls are the worst affected. Media exposure on HIV/AIDS messages is considered a principal variable associated with safe attitudes and practice on the disease’s prevention which was mainly investigated among the girls as potential mothers. The main objectives of the study were to determine the girls’ patterns of media exposure and their KAP statuses in relation to HIV/AIDS through questionnaire survey. Based on Hierarchy of Effects model, hypotheses were posed to test the relationships between HIV/AIDS media exposure and HIV/AIDS knowledge, safe practice and safe attitudes among the girls, and relationship among the KAP variables. Survey will be administered on a sample of 487 Islamiyya girls in Bauchi. This study finds that while mass media exposure is not a significant predictor of HIV/AIDS safe practice and favorable attitude, it is a significant predictor of HIV/AIDS knowledge. While HIV/AIDS knowledge is a significant predictor of both HIV/AIDS favorable attitude and safe practice.
Menurut perspektif Islam, komunikator menggalas kedudukan paling penting dalam menyampaikan mesej kepada penerima sama ada individu ataupun kumpulan menggunakan medium tertentu. Pada masa kini, terlalu ramai Muslim siber yang ingin memikul tugas dan tanggung jawab sebagai komunikator Islam. Perkara ini amat baik kerana setiap Muslim itu ditugaskan untuk berdakwah sesuai dengan kemampuan mereka. Namun ilmu pengetahuan, adab dan sifat seorang komunikator Islam perlu dihadam agar mesej yang disampaikan diterima semua. Perkara inilah yang menjadi nilai kredibiliti seorang komunikator yang akan diukur melalui pendekatan kuantitatif. Dalam mewujudkan instrumen kredibiliti komunikator Islam, ayat al-Quran yang menggariskan sifat seorang penyampai mesej Islam dikeluarkan dan dibina item-item yang bersesuaian berdasarkan faktor yang telah dikenal pasti. Seterusnya item yang dibina disahkan oleh pakar rujuk dan dianalisis melalui analisis faktor penerokaan yang dikod ke dalam aplikasi SPSS. Hasil kajian menemukan, lima daripada tujuh faktor kredibiliti komunikator Islam iaitu Amanah, Benar, Beriman, Boleh dipercayai dan Adil diterima sebagai elemen kredibiliti komunikator Islam.
Supplement aims is to protecting people from any kinds of disease and helps to build up metabolism. As living in a 3rd world countries Malaysian has apply more supplement in the 21st century. This study is about how acceptance citizen towards supplements as there is still citizen with a traditional supplement. This is study involves 450 respondents selected from a variegated race in Malaysia. A cross sectional survey and structured questionnaire were used for data collection. All variables were measured through scale previously researchers. Result for the survey show the level of confident towards supplement is low (M=2.76) and whereas the level of healthcare is also high (M=2.95).
Advancement of technologies throughout the year have produce different kind of medicine. Despite that people seeks homeopathy as source of medication, especially in Malaysia. Debate for the best form of medicine has been going around between homeopathy and conventional medicine. This study is conduct to identify the level of awareness between the effectiveness of homeopathy and modern medicine. The study indicated that the public are more aware that effectiveness of modern medicine is more high (M= 3.309) and homeopathy were (M= 2.81).
Unlike most drugs, whose benefits is restricted to the individual who take the drug, vaccine has the potential for far-reaching effects. Vaccines is injection of a killed microbe in order to stimulate the immune system against the microbe, thereby preventing disease. In Malaysia, there is now a movement rejecting the vaccine for a variety of reasons. This study is done to find out how vaccine acceptance and awareness towards parents in Malaysia. The study involved 281 respondents, selected through a cross survey and structured questionnaire were used for data collection. All variables were measured through scales and answer options previously used by other researchers. SPSSS ver. 20 software was used in the analysis. Result shows that parents in Malaysia accept vaccines towards children. (m=3.47) In addition, the result for vaccines awareness among parents towards children in Malaysia show a positive responds (m=3.45)
The acronym LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender describes individuals in smaller communities whose violate of nature. This study is done in order to find the acceptance of LGBT among Malaysians. This study also will highlight the reaction of Malaysians towards LGBT. This study uses LGBT as a topic because it is a hot issues to be discuss around the world. The study involved 302 respondents, a selected through a purpose sampling technique involving society in Malaysia. A cross sectional survey and structured questionnaire were used for data collection. All variables were measured through scales previously used by other researchers. The sampling was based on results Raosoft software. Results of the indicated shows that the acceptance of LGBT among Malaysians is high M=(3.02).
Doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after the childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest and most satisfying experience possible. This study is done in order to find the relevance of doula in Malaysia. This study involves 280 respondents and a structured questionnaire was used for data collection. All variables were measured through scales previously used by other researchers. The study indicated that for the level of people acceptance towards doula in Malaysia is low (M=2.41). This goes the same with the level of the credibility of doula in Malaysia, the study indicated that it is low (M=2.33). Overall, doula service is still not relevant to be practised in Malaysia (M=2.37).

The purpose is new knowledge, which must be reliable. As stated by Baxter and Babbie (2003), research is the systematic effort to secure answers to questions. Research questions deal with issues requiring data and information. This article gives an outline of research methods that were followed in the study. It provides information on the participants, that is, the criteria for inclusion in the study, who the participants were and how they were sampled. The researcher describes the research design that was chosen for the purpose of this study and the reasons for this choice. The instrument that was used for data collection is also described and the procedures that were followed to carry out this study are included. The researcher also discusses the methods used to analyse the data. Lastly, this paper will help researcher to explain how to choose the proper method and will guide researchers to write their methodology in academically.
In the movie Queen of Langkasuka, there is a correlation between visual communication and the characters portrayed. The strength of the images is transformed into verbal aspects that make the visualization as storyteller. The weight of any film is dependent on the broad aspects of its cinematography. In this film, visual communication is elaborated by focusing on the visual aspects and the close relationship between the characters and the space composition in conveying certain messages. In the field of cinematography, the beauty of a film is relying on how its filmmaking process shapes the characters through the visual space composition without the need to describe other characters. A film shoot requires sensitivity in the internal narrative content so that only symbolic visuals and images would communicate with the audience.
