Political polarization in Turkey has not only been visible during electoral processes but it has also been evident in non-electoral processes in online and offline protests. Gezi Park protests in 2013 denote to such processes. This study analyzes the use of Twitter during Gezi Park protests that had sparked a big polarization. The role of Twitter had been influential in mobilizing the masses in the protests. During Gezi protests as seen in the Arab Spring, Twitter was used by the protesters in a dense way in the polarized political environment. Using the “mediated populism” as the theoretical framework, this study argues that social media has paved the way for the emergence of a citizen-centered public space in times of crisis and polarization during Gezi protests. The data that will be under analysis consist of the tweets posted on Twitter during the peak of Gezi protests. The date between May 25 and June 16, 2013 is taken as the time span that refers to the peak time of protests. By detecting top-mentioned tweets, this study aims to analyze how political activism had been expressed by the protesters. To achieve this aim, the randomly selected tweets posted in this time span were examined by conducting content analysis methodology.
After almost 2 years since the first COVID-19 case outbreak, Malaysia had finally received the COVID-19 vaccines. There are several brands of vaccines from various manufacturers that had been tested and approved by National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA). This study is conducted to identify the level of public’s awareness and acceptance towards the COVID-19 vaccine. 44 online survey questions were prepared including questions related to demographic background. The Google Form survey was disseminated to family and friends via social media platform such as WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram. A number of 405 respondents had answered the survey resulting to a positive result on the awareness (M = 3.60) and acceptance (M = 3.58) of public towards COVID-19 vaccine.
Gender bias occurs when a person prefers one gender over another, resulting in unconscious bias or stereotypes directed against another member of a group, such as at work or at home. The aim of this study is to look at the level of how much gender bias exists in the workplace and household in Malaysia. The theory that has been used as a guideline for this research is Symbolic Interaction Theory by George Herbert Mead. An online questionnaire with 11 items for demographic section and 18 items was designed in order to evaluate the level of gender bias that exists in the workplace and household from all around Malaysia. The study involved 435 respondents consisting of the public with various backgrounds by using Google Form platform. The amount of the survey calculated based on the table, N=435. There are two main elements designed in this research in order to measure the level of gender bias in the workplace and the household in Malaysia. All variables were measured through the scale previously used by another researcher and scale of approval from 1 (Strongly disagree) - 4 (Strongly agree). The result of the research indicate that the level of gender bias exists the most is in workplace (M=3.32) followed by household (M=3.07)
Stigma generally means contrary sentiments that individuals have about specific conditions or qualities that someone may have. In contrast, discrimination conveys the meaning of treating someone or a particular group in the public arena less decently than others. This study aims to determine the level of stigma and discrimination of the public towards COVID- 19 patients and suspects. An online questionnaire with 11 items in the demographic section and 11 items was designed to evaluate the level of both stigma and discrimination. The study involved 404 respondents of Malaysian Citizens who are from different states and demographic backgrounds by using the Google Form platform. The amount of survey calculated based on Krejcie and Morgan Table, N=32 000 000, S=384. This study involved 404 respondents. All variables were measured through scales previously used by other researchers. SPSSS ver. 20 software was used in the analysis, and the results of the SPSS indicated that most Malaysian citizens do have a stigma towards the COVID-19 patients and suspects rather than discriminate against them by (M=2.07).
Apprehensive brings the definition of one being anxious or fearful that something bad or unpleasant will happen to them. Humans are bound to feel concerned and apprehensive towards something new and uncommon to the public’s eye. In correlation with the COVID-19 pandemic that is currently ongoing, the study is aimed to study the level of concern towards the COVID-19 vaccine and to determine the levels of apprehensiveness towards the COVID-19 vaccine. We distributed an online questionnaire to support the study consisting of 13 items in the demographic section and another 24 questions to measure the level of apprehensiveness and curiosity of our fellow Malaysian citizens. The study incorporated 475 respondents from all over Malaysia through the Google Form platform. All variables were measured through scales previously used by other researchers. All of the factors were assessed using scales that have previously been utilised by other studies. Based on the Krejcie and Morgan Table, N=475, S=210, the survey amount was determined. The analysis was conducted using SPSS ver. 20 software, and the findings of the spss suggested that our respondents are quite curious (81.9%) and a little over half of the respondents are apprehensive (53.9%).
Health Waqf is a term used to define a perpetual dedication of any property from which its benefit is used for health facilities purposes. The aim of this study is to identify the level of awareness towards the importance of Health Waqf among Malaysian people. An online questionnaire with 11 items at demographic section and 14 items was designed to evaluate the aspect of Health Waqf. This study involved 411 respondents which are from all over the country by using Google Form Platform. The amount of survey calculated based on Raosoft Calculator, N=33.45 million, S=385.All variables were measured through scales previously used by other researchers. SPSSS ver. 20 software was used in the analysis and the results of the SPSS indicated that the level of awareness regarding Health Waqaf is high (M=2.61). Besides, it can be concluded that people are well aware of the importance of Health Waqf (M=3.53).
A person can change his or her behaviour based on how others or their partner treat them. The aim of this study is to determine the level of factors that contribute to the changes of a partner's behaviour after a specific time and the level of emotional effect in a partner's behavior change. The theory that we are using as a guide for this research is Social Exchange Theory by George Caspar Homans (1958). The study involved 402 respondents from various backgrounds by using Google Form platform. There are five elements designed in the research to measure the change in a partner's behaviour after a specific time which is religion, education, social origins, finance and habits and routine. The result shows that finance contributes the most factor of change in a partner's behaviour after a specific time. (M=3.28).
It has been established that social media helps a lot of businesses sell their products and services on the internet these days. It is also well known that companies can use a variety of social media platforms to apply for and advertise their products and services. People nowadays, for example, utilize Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, and Twitter to market and advertise their items to locals. This study is about the activeness of social media in helping business. This study involves 260 respondents selected from a variegated race in Malaysia. A cross sectional survey and structured questionnaire were used for data collection. All variables measured through scale previously used by researchers. Result for the survey show Issues of social media towards business in Malaysia is high and People acceptance towards social media on helping businesses to grow in Malaysia is also high (M=4.43).
